Sania Mirza stays at 40 ; Paes, Bhupathi static too

New Delhi, July 17 (UNI) Sania Mirza clung to the 40th spot in the lastest WTA rankings which saw all the top 50 players maintaining their positions on the leaderboard.

Sania, who has 501.50 points in her kitty, returns to action after a week's rest in the 175,000-dollar Cincinnati Open in the US getting underway today.

Sania will play a lucky loser in her singles opener.

Meanwhile, US-based Indian Shikha Uberoi slipped five places to 168 whereas Ankita Bhambri was the third highest ranked Indian at 347th.

Sania also stayed at 33rd place in the doubles.

In the men's singles section, it was downslide all the way with Rohan Bopanna, Karan Rastogi and Prakash Amritraj slumping several places down the ladder.

Bopanna slipped 13 rungs to 293rd while Rastogi and Amritraj fell five places each to 339th and 344th.

Veteran Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi maintained their 14th and 24th ranks respectively in the doubles rankings.
