Rivers maintain rising trend

Patna, July 17 (UNI) Intermittent rain during the last 24 hours in parts of the state has made the flood situation grim with some rivers flowing over danger mark.

According to report of Central Water Commission, river Bagmati was flowing 64 cm above the danger mark at Benibad, while the Burhi Gandak was 1 cm above the red mark at Rosera.

Water levels of the Ganga, Kosi, Sone, Ghaghra, and Bagmati rivers are expected to rise during the next 24 hours, the report added.

Around 30 villages of Bhagalpur and 83 villages of Muzaffarpur were inundated due to flood, while the situation in some villages continued to be grim.

More than two lakh people had been affected by the flood so far, while rescue and relief operation was on to provide succour to the victims.
