Rapist sentenced to 10-year RI

New Delhi, July 17 (UNI) A city court today convicted a man for raping a minor and sentenced him to ten-year rigorous imprisonment.

Additional Sessions Judge B R Kedia also imposed a fine of Rs 3000 on Ramesh (40) who raped the 16-year-old girl on April 27, 2004.

The victim had come to Delhi in search of a job. On arrival at the Old Delhi Railway Station Ramesh and his friend Rakesh told the girl that they will help her find a job.

They then asked her to accompany them. After raping the girl they dumped her outside Gurdwara Sheeshganj in Old Delhi.

The court had examined 25 witnesses in the case.

Rakesh is absconding and has been declered a proclaimed offender by the court.
