Rly stations to have closed circuit TV: Lalu
Munger, Jul 17: Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today announced to equip all 'prominent' railway stations in the country with closed circuit televisions and metal detectors to prevent recurrence of Mumbai-like train blasts, ''The railways has beefed up security measures at all stations in the country and directed the Railway Protection Force to ensure safety of passengers at crowded railway stations in the wake of the Mumbai train blasts, '' Mr Prasad said.
The railways had also decided to lay the third rail track in the country for carrying goods as plying of goods trains was a source of income for the railways, he added.
Earlier, Mr Prasad flagged off the bogie container and flat wagons manufactured at the Jamalpur railway workshop.
The Railway Board had allocated funds for manufacturing 100 bogie containers and flat wagons at an estimated cost of Rs one crore in the 144-year-old Jamalpur railway workshop in the first phase.
Mr Prasad also laid the foundation of the auditorium in the campus of the Indian Railway Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, Jamalpur, at an estimated cost of Rs 3.23 crore.
