Punjab can't thwart Haryana nuke plant: Hooda
Chandigarh, July 17 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today asserted that Punjab could not stop the setting up of a nuclear power plant in his state.
Mr Hooda made this statement when his attention was drawn to the reported opposition of Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to setting up the proposed nuclear power plant in Fatehabad district in Haryana.
The Haryana Chief Minister said the final decision in this matter would be taken by Nuclear Power Corporation and the opinion of others did not matter in this regard.
Mr Hooda also made it clear that Haryana was constructing the Bhakra Main Line-Hansi Branch-Bhutana Branch Multipurpose Link Canal to carry its due share of water.
He was asked to comment on another statement made by the Punjab Chief Minister that he would not let Haryana get a drop of water.
Mr Hooda said the canal was being constructed within the state to ensure equitable distribution of water.
