Police seize 23 vehicles from gang
Koraput, July 17: Close on the heels of arrest of notorious criminal Badakrushana, the Koraput police have busted an inter-state gang with the arrest of its kingpin Manoj Nayak and seized 23 stolen motorcycles.
Manoj, a close associate of Badakrushana, was running a parallel gang for disposing the stolen vehicles and sharing percentage with Badakrushana.
According to police, for the past two years the gang was quite active in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Rayagada districts of Orissa, Bastar and Kanker districts in Chhattisgarh and Vizainagaram and Srikakulam districts of Andhra Pradesh.
The gang had stolen over 200 new and old motorcycles as recorded in different police stations.
The Koraput police got vital clue of the gang's operation with arrests of Badakrushana who had confessed that he had disposed off the stolen motorcycles to one Manoj Nayak of Koraput.
Accordingly, the police team led by Superintendent of Police Arun Bothra, arrested Manoj from Koraput in the wee hours yesterday.
Mr Bothra said efforts were on to seize more stolen vehicles as disclosed by Monoj adding that some more would be recovered soon..
