Phalgun sends top seed Joshi packing

Pune, July 17 (UNI) Unseeded B S Phalgun of Karnataka created a stunning flutter by sending top seeded Amey Joshi of Maharashtra packing in straight games 21-14, 21-16 and breezed into the last stage of the junior boys singles section on the opening day of the Kirloskar Brothers sponsored Sushant Chiplkatti memorial All India Junior Badminton Championship which got underway at the Western India Enterprise complex here.

On the other hand, top seeded Neha Pandit of Maharashtra overcame some anxious moments before downing Jyothi Swarup of Andhra Pradesh in a tight match 21-15, 19-21, 21-9 and made the last eight stage in the junior girls singles.

Kirloskar Brothers Limited Director Jayant Sapre was the guest of honour and formally inaugurated the championship.
