OBC convention at Shirdi on Sept 17
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, July 17: The All India OBC Parishad will finalise its future course of action about the reservations to OBCs at its mega convention at Shirdi in Ahmednagar district on September 17, OBC Parishad's state unit president Hanumant Upre has said.
Mr Upre, who is on his statewide awareness drive about the reservations launched by the Parishad at Tuljapur on July 9, yesterday told reporters that during his drive, he met intellectuals among the OBCs and the response was encouraging so far.
Compulsory registration of caste during census, removal of the 'Creamy layer' condition for the OBCs, release of data of the OBCs along with their economical status and 27 per cent reservation for them in IITs, IIMs and other higher educational institutes are some of the key demands of the Parishad.
''The OBC Parishad would prepare a draft of its demands and is expected to announce a future strategy of its course of action during the September 17 convention,'' added Mr Upre.
