Lawyers strike enters 20th day
Jammu, July 17 (UNI) The indefinite strike of lawyers, demanding transfer of high profile sex scandal case to Jammu from Srinagar, continued for the 20th day consecutive today.
The lawyers, who started indefinite strike on June 28 against the denial of right of defence and threat issued to lawyers in Srinagar while representing their clients, were absent from court proceedings.
The lawyers have been demanding the case of sex scandal be tried in any court outside the Kashmir Valley. The protests hit work in the High court and other sub-ordinate courts of the state.
Talking to UNI Ved Raj Wazir, president Bar Association of Jammu, said the strike would go on till the Association's demand of transfer of cases for fair trial outside the Valley was not met with.
Association had already sent representations to the Chief Justice of India, Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary in this regard.
