Advocate injures nephew with gun

Chennai, July 17: Police has arrested an advocate for causing injuries to his wife's nephew by firing at him from his country-made gun over a domestic quarrel at Thalaivankottai village in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu late last night.

Police said the accused Tamilselvan allegedly used to harass his wife for dowry, due to which there were frequent quarrels between them. A group of relatives and parents of the advocate's wife went to the advocate's residence and questioned his action, resulting in a quarrel.

The advocate pulled out his gun and opened fire at the relatives of his wife. While others managed to escape unhurt, Murugaiahpandiyan, who received bullet injuries, was admitted to Government Medical College Hospital at Tirunelveli.

An investigation was underway, police added.
