'ISI behind July 11 attacks in Mumbai, Srinagar'

Jammu, July 17: Senior BJP leader Chaman Lal Gupta today accused Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI of being behind the serial blasts in Mumbai's local trains and grenade attacks on tourists in Kashmir on July 11.

Talking to mediapersons, Prof Gupta said, ''The incidents in the valley and Mumbai were part of the gameplan to rake up the Kashmir issue and get international attention.'' He said Pakistan had announced a ceasefire along the Line of Control about three years ago and again in January 2004 under international pressure but infiltration continued unabated.

Prof Gupta also flayed the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre as well as at the state for its ''soft policies'' towards militants.

He said over 50,000 weapons and tonnes of RDX and other deadily explosives have been seized by the security forces and the state police from the ultras during the past few months.

''Large number of these weapons as also the explosives carry the markings of Ordnance factories of Pakistan. Many of the killed and apprehended militants also included Pakistan nationals,'' he added.
