Home Min condemns C'garh attack, assures state gov of all help
New Delhi, July 17 (UNI) The Union Home Ministry today condemned the naxal attack on a relief camp in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, in which at least 25 people were killed and nearly 150 injured.
A Home Ministry spokesman said that the Home Minister had expressed anguish over the targeting of innocent people by the Naxalites.
He said senior officials of the state government had rushed to the spot and relief operations had been launched. Treatment was being provided to the injured.
Meanwhile, combing operations have been launched by a large contigent of the CRPF, engaged in anti-Naxal operations.
''The ministry is in touch with the state government and has assured it all assistance it may need,'' the spokesman said.
He said the Naxal attack followed the counter-offensive launched again the rebels by the state machinery. Local people had also come out against the Naxals, and the insurgents' action was a sign of desperation, he added.
