GSPCB examining Reliance Power Plant proposal for a boiler
Panaji,July 17 (UNI) The Goa State Pollution Control Board(GSPCB) is examining a proposal of M/s Reliance Energy Limited for installation of a coal based Atmospheric Fluidised Combustion Boiler Plant for its Sancoale-based power plant in the state.
In reply to a starred question of Mr.Vijay Pai Khot(BJP) tabled in the State Assembly today, Deputy Chief Minister (in charge of environment) Dr.Wilfred De Souza told the House that the proposal was forwarded to the Board by the High Powered Coordination Committee for its priliminary comments.
The Board will examine the detailed proposal on receipt from the company along with the mandatory Environment Impact Assessment-cum-Environment Management Plan as it involved replacement of the naptha by the imported low-ash,low-sulphur coal.
The company proposed to take all steps to check spread of coal dust on transport of the coal from Mormugao port to its facility, he added.
