Govt will respond to the notice: Reddy

New Delhi, July 17 (UNI) Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy today said that it would give an appropriate reply to the notice of the Supreme Court which took exception to the enactment of Delhi Laws (Special provisions) 2006, putting one year moratorium against the removal of unauthorised construction and sealing of commercial establishments in residential areas of the capital.

''We have received the notice from the Supreme court and we will respond to it appropriately," Mr Reddy said on the apex court's ruling which observed that the Delhi Laws (Special provisions) 2006 was aimed at overuling the orders of the court.

The court had granted one-week to the Centre to file its counter affidavit and directed the petitioner to file their rejoinders within three days thereafter.

The court told the Solictor General that this government first filed an application seeking six-month stay against the sealing process and later withdrew it without informing the court about its intention of bringing in the legisation.
