Day-long meetings for PM at G8
St Petersburg, July 17 (UNI) It was a hectic day for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the concluding day of the G8 summit here today as he attended as many as seven back-to-back meetings, beginning at 0805 hrs (local time) in the morning and ending at 1745 hrs.
Dr Singh began the day with 40-minute meeting with US President George W Bush which was followed by 30-minute talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The Prime Minister then attended a four-hour meeting of the G8 with its seven outreach countries.
Later, he had meetings with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, a one-hour trilateral meet with Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Hu Jintao of China, before ending the day's engagements with a 45-minute meeting with Mr Putin.
