Court directs CBI to frame charges in Balasore sex scandal case
Bhubaneswar, July 17 (UNI) Chief Judicial Magistrate and CBI designate court judge Sarat Chandra Mishra today directed the CBI to frame charges against Pravasini Kar and Sushant Mohapatra in the sensational Balasore sex scandal case.
Rejecting the discharge petitions filed by Ms Kar and Mr Mohapatra, the judge directed the CBI to frame charges against the two accused under 120 B, 342, 328, 376/511 sections of the IPC for criminal intimidation, attempt to rape and criminal conspiracy.
The court fixed August 21 for hearing of the evidence framed against Ms Kar and Mr Mohapatra.
The case related to the allegation of a woman from Balasore who had stated that she was taken to the Krishna Tower in Bhubaneswar on July 9, 1999 by another woman where Mr Mohapatra tried to outrage her modesty.
The woman, however, recently made a statement before the media stating that she was gang raped on that night by a senior IAS officer and Mr Mohapatra.
The IAS officer, however, denied the allegation saying the charges were 'motivated' and aimed at defaming him at the behest of some IAS officers in the state.
