Congress approaches court for CBI inquiry into land scam
Patna, July 17 (UNI) Bihar Congress today filed a public interest litigation petition in Patna High Court, seeking a directive to the state government for a CBI inquiry into alleged land scam.
Chief spokesman of the state Congress Prem Chandra Mishra filed the petition and urged the court to order CBI inquiry into the alleged land scam in which precious land in Patna, Bettiah, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi and Hajipur had been allotted to noted film producer Prakash Jha at throwway prices.
He pointed out in the petition that land was allotted to Mr Jha without inviting bidding through open tenders resulting in the loss of crores of rupees to the state government.
Mr Mishra said that land located in Patliputra Industrial Development Area of the state capital should not be allotted for 'Multiplex' as it did not come under the purview of industries. Mr Jha had proposed to construct a multiplex in the area and land was allotted to him violating rules and regulations in this regard.
