Cong seeks to move privilege motion against Minister

Bangalore, July 17 (UNI) Karnataka Legislative Council Officiating Chairman Sachidananda Khot today reserved his ruling on a privilege motion, sought to be moved by the main Opposition Congress against Higher Education Minister D H Shankaramurthy for making an announcement regarding revision of fee for professional courses outside the House when the Legislature was in session.

In his preliminary submission on moving the privilege notice, Prof B K Chandrashekhar (Congress) said making such policy announcements outside the House while the House was in session did not help in furthering the dignity of the House and its members.

Leader of the Opposition H K Patil, Mr V R Sudarshan (Congress) Dr M P Nadagouda (JD-U) and several others supported the notice.

In their reply, Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and Mr Shankaramurthy justified the statement, saying the Government had not taken any decision on the matter, but was only thinking on those lines. The Government would take the Opposition parties into confidence, before taking a decision on the matter, they assured.
