Chopra signs off tied 10th, Atwal tied 61st in John Deere Classic

Silvis, Illinois, July 17 (UNI) Daniel Chopra messed up a brilliant start to finish tied 10th after carding a one-under 70 while Arjun Atwal's disappointing one-over 72 saw him slip to the tied 61st spot after the final round of the four million dollar John Deere Classic here.

Atwal finished with a total of four-under 280 -- a major improvement from this season's run of poor form when he missed several cuts in the USPGA Tour events.

The Orlando-based Indian fired two birdies against three bogeys as he had his first over-par round of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Daniel Chopra could not have asked for better start as he fired on the first hole and followed it up with an eagle on the next. However, the Indian-born Swede lost his way after that as he fumbled twice in the front nine to squander the advantage.

His back nine started no better as he dropped a shot on the 10th but made up for the miss with two back-to-back birdies on 13th and 14th. But a bogey on the very next hole again pulled him back. He rounded off his mixed day with a birdie and a bogey on the 17th and 18th.

At the top Australian John Senden won his first US PGA TOUR title and also qualified for the British Open after carding a three-under 68 to finish at 19-under 265 and beat American JP Hayes (65) by one stroke.
