Burdwan to be covered under E-governance programme by August

Durgapur, Jul 17 (UNI) By August this year, Burdwan district will be covered under the E-Governance Technology and all panchayat samity of the state will be under the scheme within November, West Bengal's Information technology minister Debesh Das said.

While speaking in a two-day long seminar organised by the forum of scientists, engineers and technologists (FOSET) at NIT here, he said, "In future, Information Technology will be the major area for employment generation. Within two years, more than 1,40,000 youths will be provided jobs in this sector, for which a huge amount will be invested".

Subimal Sen, Vice-Chairman of West Bengal Higher Education Council said, " Every year we are losing 30 per cent of our produced food grains. If we can protect and preserve it, then no fertile land will be required for further industrialisation in the state." A large number of engineers, scientists and technologists from different corners of the state were present in the seminar.
