BSF shot dead a Bangladeshi smuggler

Balurghat, Jul 17 (UNI) BSF personnel shot dead a Bangladeshi smuggler in West Bengal's South Dinajpur district last night, the Commanding Officer of 172 Battalion said here today.

Tamijuddin Haque was gunned down at border outpost of Laxmi Narayanpur when he was crossing the border after stealing cattle from India, he said.

Tamijuddin hailed from Sapahar village of Naogaon district of Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Rifles have claimed the body.

He said the body will be handed over after a post mortem.
