AICTE assures Goa engg colleges of accredition

Panaji, July 17 (UNI) All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has assured the three State Government engineering colleges that accredition to three of their courses will be formally granted by National Board of Accredition (NBA) soon.

Goa's Commissioner for NRIs (non-resident Indians) Edwardo Faleiro told mediapersons here today that accredition to three courses - civil, mechanical and electronics and telecommunications will be granted to College of Engineering, Formagudi at the NBA's board meeting on July 28, while accredition to these courses in Shree Rayeshwar Insitute of Engineering and Padre Conceicao College of Engineering will be granted as soon as they complete the statutory period of six years from their establishment, Mr Faleiro said.

Goa university degrees are accepted everywhere, except in some countries like Kuwait, Cananda and New Zealand. These countries only recognise colleges from India listed under NBA, and the engineering colleges of Goa university are not listed therein, he added.

Meanwhile, the Union Human Resource Development Ministry and the Ministry of External Affairs has empowered comptroller of examination of the Goa university for authentication of Goa varsity degrees for higher studies and employment abroad. Therefore, concerned parties can now approach Goa university comptroller and are not required to go to Delhi.
