Shiv slips to tied 62nd in Scottish Open

Loch Lomond, Scotland, July 16 (UNI) A hat-trick of bogeys in the front nine marred his show as Shiv Kapur slipped to the tied 62nd spot after carding a disappointing one-over 72 in the penultimate round of the 2.4 million pound Scottish Open here.

The only Indian in the fray after Jyoti Randhawa and Jeev Milkha Singh shockingly failed to make the cut, Shiv now has a three-day total of level-par 213.

He started off well with a birdie on the third but saw his form slump as he hit three bogeys in a row to be two-over at the halfway mark.

The Indian, who will next be seen in action in The Open Championship next week, had a slightly better back nine as he fired two birdies against a soiltary bogey to arrest the slide but the effort could not not prevent an over-par finish as he slipped down the leaderboard.

At the top, Denmark's Thomas Bjorn (202) fired a five-under 66 to set up a final day clash with Darren Clarke of Northern Ireland, who carded a level-par 71 to be tied for the top position.

England's Benn Barham, Scotland's David Drysdale and Argentina's Andres Romero are two strokes back to tie for third place.
