Rectified spirit seized, 2 held

Kancheepuram, July 16 (UNI) Police today seized rectified spirit worth Rs five lakh and arrested two persons in this connection.

Acting on information, police raided a empty field next to the Thoosi Crematorium and found the cans containing the spirit being unloaded from a lorry.

Police found 148 cans with 5,180 litre of rectified spirit and arrested lorry driver Sankar (50) and cleaner Ramesh (28).

However, two others managed to escape and the police have launched a search operation to nab them.
