Pranab dissatisfied with merit evaluation system
Barrackpore, Jul 16 (UNI) Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee today expressed dissatisfaction over the existing process of merit evaluation in the education system of the country.
Adressing a convocation ceremony of a private sector computer education Institute branch of e-Bharat at the Ordnance community hall, Ishapur near here, Mr Mukherjee observed that the well practised merit evaluation system was not foolproof and needed change with the rapid changing world.
Awarding certificates to the successful students of computer education, Mr Mukherjee suggested that the students should remember that such appreciation could inspire them to gather more knowledge in future and give them no scope of complacency.
Evolution of technology in the developing world was rapid and wide while technologists needed themselves updated in every respect improving their skill in every step, Mr Mukherjee suggested.
He said, '' It is beyond our imagination how computers would be developed, but in later stage it is observed that it is developing continuously with the development of the technology. '' The Defence Minister also suggested that such non-government institutions should bear some need-based social responsibilities beyond its educational programme.
The ceremony was also graced by the Director General, Ordnance Factories, P.K.Mishra and District Magistrate North 24 Parganas Manoj Pant among others.
