Panchayati Raj: Himachal for law against erring functionaries
New Delhi, July 16 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh government will bring in legislation to make training programmes mandatory for the elected members of panchayati raj institutions.
''Disciplinary action will be taken against the elected members who bunk the training programmes,'' Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister Sat Mahajan said.
''Those who do not attend the programmes will also not be entitled to honorariums,'' he told Union Panchayati Raj Minister Mani Shankar Aiyer here yesterday.
Mr Mahajan said separate sitting places would be provided to all the block samiti members, including the president and the vice-presidents, so that they could meet the people independently.
He also told Mr Aiyer that the National Flag will now fly daily at all the Panchayati Raj buildings in Himachal Pradesh.
''Instead of the current practice of unfurling the National Flag on only important occasions such as Independence Day and Republic Day, the Tricolour will now fly at all the Panchayati Raj buildings daily,'' he said.
