Mystical wins Bangalore St.Leger (Grade II)

Bangalore, July 16 (UNI) In an eleventh hour twist to the tale, hot favourite 'Mystical' (B Prakash up) won the Bangalore St Leger (Grade II), the main event of the Bangalore summer races held here today.

The winner, owned by Dr M A M Ramaswamy and trained by S Ganapathy, had been trailing till about 2,200 m of the total 2,800 m. However, it then regrouped itself and claimed the first position.

Dr Ramaswamy bagged Rs 12,43,220 with two trophies and claimed Rs 1,64,000 without trophy as the joint winner along with Mr Zavaray S Poonawalla, representing Poonawalla Racing and Breed Ltd.

Trainer S Ganapathy - Jockey B Prakash combination rode four winners, while Jockey C Alford rode a treble and trainer Arjun Mangalorkar had a brace.

Punters had a mixed day with five favourites obliging in a long card of nine events.
