Mumbai blasts are assault on India : Advani

Bhopal, July 16 (UNI) Describing the Mumbai transit terror incidents as akin to an assault on India, senior BJP leader L K Advani today said forces of militancy ought to be given a fitting reply.

''The 9/11 (September 11, 2001) attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon were construed as an assault on the entire US and 7/11 should be viewed likewise in our context,'' he told journalists at the local airport here.

Mr Advani considered it unfortunate that -- except the BJP -- no party, including the Centre was taking a serious view of the issue.

''The BJP has decided to stage countrywide demonstrations against terrorism and the first is taking place here,'' said Mr Advani who was accompanied by former HRD minister Murli Manohar Joshi.
