MP cabinet ayes Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Bill
Bhopal, July 16 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh cabinet today approved a Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Bill at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here, sources said.
The bill is likely to be tabled during the Assembly's monsoon session that gets underway tomorrow. The proposal for legislation enshrines provisions for curbing conversion.
A person desirous of conversion would have to inform the magistrate concerned a month in advance and the spiritual leader who would supervise the conversion would have to separately inform the official a fortnight in advance.
The meeting also ayed the first supplementary budget 2006-07.
