Monsoon weak over North Interior Karnataka

Bangalore, Jul 16 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the weather office at 0830 hrs today.

Monsoon was weak over North Interior Karnataka.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Coastal Karnataka; at a few places over South Interior Karnataka and at isolated places over North Interior Karnataka.

Chief rainfall amounts (cm): Madikeri 6; Agumbe 5; Puttur, Karkala, Kollur, Panambur 3 each; Gerusoppa, Mangalore AP, Thirthahalli, Bangalore city 2 each; Udupi, Belgaum, Bangalore AP, Napoklu 1 each.

Forecast valid until Tuesday morning: Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at many places over Coastal Karnataka; at a few places over South Interior Karnataka and at isolated places over North Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin: Moderate to heavy rain likely to occur at many places over all districts of Coastal Karnataka. Light to moderate rain likely to occur at a few places over Belgaum, Haveri, Dharwad districts of North Interior Karnataka and ghat areas of South Interior Karnataka and at isolated places over remaining districts of North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka.

Fishries Warning: Strong onshore winds from northwesterly to westerly direction speed occasionally reaching 45 to 50 kmph likely along off Karnataka coast during the next 24 hours.

Outlook for subsequent two days: Decrease in rainfall is expected over the State.

Forecast for Bangalore city: Generally cloudy. One or two spells of light rain.
