Manik Sarkar assures all measures to contain Hepatitis

Agartala, July 16 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today assured that his government was taking all preventive measures to control Hepatitis.

''Though the Government is taking all preventive measures, lots more need to be done. I'll talk with the Director of Health Services and ask him to spread awareness about the deadly virus through the local Doordarshan Kendra and the All India Radio.'' He said clean water and proper sanitation were the need of the hour.

''Our Government is trying to ensure pipe water to the whole of Tripura. First, we are trying to provide pipe water and after that we will provide them treated pipe water. Proper sanitation facility will also be provided to each and every family. The Government has already started working on this project. Free sanitation facility will be provided to the people living below poverty line,'' Mr Sarkar added.

The Chief Minister lauded the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura for carrying on their service to the society. ''The HFT has done a commendable job in the past three years.'' The Third Annual Conference of HFT was held today at the Town Hall. The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Minister. The day is also being celebrated as the World Hepatitis Day.
