LeT commander at large, no Mumbai team in JK

Srinagar, Jul 16: Valley wide raids by the Jammu and Kashmir police during the past four days to nab the Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) commander Mudasir who masterminded the grenade attacks on tourists on July 11 in the summer capital has not yielded any results.

However, police killed a militant and arrested about half a dozen others besides unearthing a number of hideouts during the raids, Inspector General of Police S M Sahai told sources.

He said special teams who rushed to different parts of the valley are conducting raids on a specific information to nab him.

We are on the right track and will get him soon, Mr Sahai said adding we are getting encouraging response from the militant movement and their hideouts.

During the raids, we have arrested few more militants and busted a number of hideouts, ''he said adding Mudasir was still at large.

Police have released a photograph of Mudasir, the mastermind behind the series of grenade blasts in the city on July 11 in which nine people were killed and 38 wounded.

The Kashmir police has also announced a reward of Rs five lakh for anyone providing information about Mudasir alias Raju alias Mansoor.

He said after the arrest of Nazir Ahmad Rather a resident of Sumbal in north Kashmir district of Baramulla from the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) when he threw a fifth grenade on July 11, the other militants involved in the recent grenade attacks were identified.

''We are after Mudasir and other militants,'' he said.

He said during a raid at Deyalgam yesterday a LeT militant was killed by the police.

When asked if any special police team from Mumbai has arrived here to investigate any connection between Kashmiri militants with Mumbai blasts, Mr Sahai said no such team has come.

''I donot know about any such team that had arrived here,'' he said.
