Karnataka Fifth Pay Commission Chairman passes away

Bangalore, July 16 (UNI) The Karnataka Fifth Pay Commission Chairman C Gopala Reddy died of a massive cardiac arrest, here today.

He was 67. He leaves behind his wife and a son.

Mr Reddy, who was ill for some time, was admitted to a private hospital in the city where he breathed his last.

Mr Reddy, a Karnataka cadre IAS officer, had served in various capacities, including as Additional Chief Secretary of the Karnataka Government. He was appointed as Chairman of the State's Fifth Pay Commission and recently he had recommended the Government to pay ten per cent interim relief to the State Government employees.

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly N Dharam Singh condoled the death.
