JD (U) leader Anand Mohan manhandles SSP

Patna, July 16 (UNI) Former Member of Parliament Anand Mohan manhandled the Senior Police Superintendent (SSP) of Patna Kundan Krishnan, when the police cracked down to arrest the leader in Patna tonight.

Mr Krishanan said that Mr Anand Monan was arrested along with eight supporters as the leader was moving in Patna in an illegal manner. However, Mr Mohan manhandled the SSP, who said the matter would be referred to the court and law will take its own course.

Meanwhile, Home Secretary Afzal Amanullah said that a new case has been registered in this connection against Mr Mohan who is already facing 17 criminal cases. He alleged that Mr Mohan, instead of going to Saharsa jail after his production in a court at Dehradun on July 13 was enjoying in Patna.

Mr Amanullah said that in the new case the leader has been charged for absconding and obstruction of public servants on duty. A case was also registered against the police party escorting Mr Mohan.

He said Bihar police has been given free hand to take action against criminals to enforce the law. The Home Secretary said there is no political interference in the police administration and any person who would try to take law in his hand would not be spared.

Earlier Bihar government had instituted a probe into the illegal transferring of Mr Mohan from Saharsa jail to Dehradun.

Bihar government had sought a report from Saharsa jail Superintendent and had later suspended the jailer for dereliction of duty.
