Indian eves pip Japan in sudden death to win under-18 tourney

New Delhi, July 16 (UNI) India pipped hosts Japan 2-1 in sudden death in an edge-of-the-seat final to win the four-nation under-18 women Kakamigahara International Challenge Cup hockey tournament in Gifu today.

According to the information received here, India and Japan were level at 1-1 after the regulation and extra time. However, Indian eves held their nerves in the tie-breaker to emergeas champions.

South Korea and Malaysia were the other two teams in the journey.

India had defeated Korea 1-0 and Malaysia 4-0 en route to the final.
