ICAI to revise course content

Kolkata, Jul 16 (UNI) The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is planning to revise the course content for the chartered accountants in the country to make it more industry-friendly, ICAI council member Harinderjit Singh said.

"The institute is trying to find out the expectations of the industry and white paper will be in place in the next 15 days," Mr Singh said.

The revision of the course content is a long term process and the content is expected to be in place by 2006 end, he said.

Special importance will be given to global accounting standards, financial management, treasury management and corporate governance while bringing in changes in the syllabus, he said.

With the change in the business environment in the country, the chartered accountants need to be equipped with the latest techniques of transparent reporting to shareholders, he said.

He said the changes in the content would also consider the needs of the booming service sector.
