Hurriyat to discuss Indo-Pak relations tomorrow

Srinagar, Jul 16: Concerned over the recent developments in the sub-continent after the Mumbai blasts, the Executive Council (EC) of the Hurriyat Conference (Mirwaiz) is meeting here tomorrows to discuss the India-Pakistan relations.

''We have convened a meeting of the Executive Council, the highest decision making body of the amalgam, meeting tomorrow to discuss all the issues, including the recent developments after Mumbai blasts,'' a HC spokesman said.

He said the gndo-pak relations in the back drop of Mumbai blasts, will, in particular, come up for discussion in the meeting.

''We are concerned over the developments as the gains achieved during the past two years of peace process should not be allowed to go waste,'' he said.

The spokesman said dialogue was the only civilised way to resolve all the outstanding issues, including the Kashmir issue. The process, which has generated a lot of hope among the people in the sub-continent should not be abandoned at any cost, he added.

He said HC has condemned the Mumbai and Srinagar blasts,and noted Pakistan President one perves Musharraf has offered to cooperate with any investigation to bring the guilty to book.'' However, unfortunate misgivings and allegations against each other put question mark on the peace process,'' he said but expressed the hope that'' these things will have no impact on the dialogue process.

About the other agenda items of the meeting, the spokesman said the Human Rights violations and other matters will also come up during the discussion. The day-to-day internal matters of the amalgam will also be discussed, he added.
