Four killed and infiltration, exfiltration attempts foiled in J
Srinagar, July 16 (UNI) Four persons were killed and 12 others were injured while security forces foiled infiltration and exfiltration attempts in the Jammu and Kashmir overnight, official sources said today.
They said security forces opened fire when they saw a movement near a house at Chowgul Handwara in the frontier district of Kupwara.
Later, body of a villager Abli Wani was recovered in the area.
People in the area took to the streets in protest against the incident and demanded action against the security force personnel responsible for killing Wani.
It was however, not known whether Wani was carrying a lantern when he went out as advised by the security force officials.
The senior state government officials had advised people to carry some light when they go out during night in case of emergency so that they could be identified by the security force ambush party.
An official spokesman said wani was killed in an encounter between militants and security forces.
Sources said militants hurled a hand grenade on a Border Security Force (BSF) bunker Chenkipora, Sopore, at 1245 hrs.
It missed the target and exploded on the roadside causing injuries to six people. The injured were hospitalised.
They said Aijaz Ahmad Dar, a resident of Gopalpora Chadoora, in the central Kashmir district of Badgam, who was injured in the blast at Ganderbal yesterday, died in the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences at Soura early this morning.
With this, two person have died and nine were injured in the blast.
Militants also shot dead Mohammad Shafi and Niaz at village Hill Tak in Rajouri distict of Jammu region last night.
Militants also hurled a hand grenade near bus stand at Kishtwar last night. It exploded on the roadside causing injuries to three perosns who were hospitalised.
In similar grenade blast at Mankote near Bagli Nallah in Poonch district, three persons were wounded last evening.
