B'desh Rifles opened fire at Indian border in WB
Krishnagar, Jul 16: Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) opened fire at Indian border in West Bengal after BSF shot dead a cattle lifter in Nadia district today, BSF's DIG S Ramaswami said.
He said the BSF shot dead an Indian smuggler, identifed as Asadul Mondol (3O), while fleeing with many cattle heads at Maluapara under Chapra block, about 150 kms east of Kolkata.
BDR, without any provocation, opened firing at the Indian border for half an hour forcing the BSF to shot back, the DIG confirmed.
He said while the BDR shots about fifty rounds, the BSF spent seven bullets to retaliate the firing.
BSF seized about 12 animals and retrieved the body and sent for post mortem.
The victim was the resident of Udo village of Chapra block.
The exchange of firing that lasted thirty mintues casued panick among the villagers.
