Advani urges return of Bhojshala idol

Bhopal, July 16 (UNI) Senior BJP leader L K Advani today called for special attempts by the Madhya Pradesh government to bring back an idol of Goddess Saraswati taken several years back from the Bhojshala in Dhar district to a museum in London.

''It is imperative to re-install the image,'' he said here while speaking as chief guest at the First Dr Vishnu Shridhar Wakankar National Award ceremony. The honour was bestowed on archaeologist Swaraj Prasad Gupta.

Mr Advani also presented a shawl to Dr Wakankar's wife Lakshmi.

Among those present were former HRD minister and renowned academician Murli Manohar Joshi, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Culture Minister Lakshmikant Sharma.

Dr Gupta announced that he would donate the Rs 1 lakh award amount to the Pune-based Indian Society for Prehistoric and Quaternary Studies.
