Aditya Patel, Karan Goenka, Vishnu Prasad share honors

Coimbatore, July 16 (UNI) Aditya Patel, Karan Goenka and Vishnu Prasad emerged winners in the senior, junior and Rotax Mini Max categories in the third leg of the J K Tyre Rotax Mojo Max Indian Karting Challenge 2006, at the Kari Motor Speedway here today.

The senior category saw an upset with Chennai's Aditya Patel putting up a spirited effort to clinch the race. Last year's senior and junior champions Aditya Akkineni and Akhil Khushlani of Hyderabad were locked in an interesting duel till the 15th lap when Akhil nudged into Aditya Akkeneni as the latter tried to overtake the former, according to a press release.

Both went off the track. But were back in action very soon. But the precious time lost could not made up for. Aditya Patel made the best of this God send opportunity to grab the lead and retain it till the finish. An enquiry into the skirmishes between the vehicles of Akkineni and Akhil led to the disqualification of Akhil Khushlani.

Aditya Akkineni finished second while Radha Selvaraj from Chennai finished third.

In the junior category, Kolkattan Karan Goenka had no problems in notching up a win with a commanding performance. Mumbai lad Mohit Ahuja did push hard but that was just not enough to push ahead of Karan. Chirag Malhotra finished third.

Chennai lad and champion for the last two years running Vishnu Prasad continued his winning run to once again to emerge victor for the 3rd time running this season in the 15 lap race in the Rotax Mini Max category. Parth Ghorpade from Kolhapur did put up a stiff fight but it was just not enough for him to move past Vishnu.

Chennai's Shashank Shankar finished a distant third.
