Woman booked for killing newborn baby in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, July 15 (UNI) A 26-year-old woman was booked for allegedly murdering her newborn baby girl here.

Savita Rajendra Chavan of Tisangi village in Gaganbavada tehsil of this district had delivered her second girl child on Thursday at Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC)-run Panchaganga hospital here.

Yesterday morning, when Chavan's relative visited the hospital, she failed to see any signs of movement in the baby, so she called the doctor who declared the baby dead.

The post-mortem report stated that the baby had died of strangulation.

A case has been registered against Chavan u/s 302, police said.
