We are coming close to an understanding on CAB polls: Chakroborty
Kolkata, July 15 (UNI) West Bengal Sports Minister Subhas Chakroborty today said that an understanding was being reached between the ruling and dissident group for the CAB polls that are due on July 30.
Talking to the media, he said, ''I am talking to both the ruling factions of CAB and the dissidents. We hope to come closer at some point of time before the elections.'' ''There is a tug-of-war, but both the parties will have to give up some ground to come to a consensus. Let us see what happens,'' he said.
Asked if he had received the 10-page reply from Mr Dalmiya, he said, ''I have and forwarded it to Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.'' West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee had through Mr Chakroborty asked Mr Dalmiya to step aside from the elections. In reply Mr Dalmiya had sent a 10-page explanation to the concerns raised by some sections, including Mr Bhattacharjee, about the fate of Bengal cricket.
It is clear that City Commissioner of Police Prashun Mukherjee would like to fight the polls with his entire panel, so some sort of understanding is desperately sought.
Sources close to Mr Dalmiya are still confident that the man himself will not back out of the polls.
