Unclaimed suitcase scares airport passengers
Chennai, July 15 (UNI) An unclaimed suitcase caused scare among the passengers as well as the security and other officials at Anna International airport here early today.
Police said during the routine security drill, the CISF found a suitcase and made repeated announcment through public addressing system. But when their efforts to find the owner went in vain. They alerted the airport authorities, who came to the spot with anti-bomb squad. The suitcase has taken to an isolated place and opened.
Police heaved a sigh of relief when they found that the suitcase contained only garments.
Meanwhile, the CISF has detained a 35-year-old man, who was moving around in a suspecious manner near gate number four during routine patrol.
Enquiries revealed that the man Selvaraj hailing from Kulachel in Kanyakumari district was mentally deranged and was handed over to the local police for further interrogation, police added.
