Sultry weather continues, lull in rainfall to stay 3-4 days
New Delhi, July 15 (UNI) There was no let up from the sultry weather conditions in Delhi today with the lull in rainfall activity, after Wednesday's heavy monsoon showers, continuing for the third day.
Even though a fresh wave of Westerly winds provided some relief from the perspiring conditions, the partly sunny weather, coupled with a humidity of 63 per cent, led to a further rise in mercury to 36.3 degrees Celsius today.
Meanwhile, the dry spell in Delhi, following heavy monsoon showers on Wednesday morning, continued for the third consecutive day today.
Weathermen attribute the lull in rainfall activity to the decreasing influence of the upper air cyclonic storm, that had contributed to Wednesday's heavy spell of monsoon rains.
Weathermen said that though heavy falls were likely over Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa and Jharkhand during the next 1-2 days, in Northwest India, rainfall is likely to remain subdued during the next 3-4 days.
The weather office attribute this to the eastwards movement of the trough in mid-tropospheric westerlies.
Subsequently this rain belt is likely to shift into Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh.
In Delhi, the weather office has forecast a generally cloudy sky with possibility of rain and thundershowers in some areas.
