Police bust shop breaking racket
Rajkot, July 14 (UNI) Rajkot police have busted a shop breaking racket with the arrest of eight gang members.
The accused who have been identified as Harjitsinh Bhatia (25) resident of Padadhari in Rajkot district, Udalsingh Rajusingh Chikhalikar (23) resident of Vadodara, Jainaral Singh alias Jalo Roopsingh Chikhalikar (23), Amarsingh Ramsingh both residents of Surat, Sohan alias Soransingh resident of Chuda in Surendranagar district, Nanakram Jogindar Tank, Janralsingh Jongidarsingh both resident of Jamkhambhaliya in Jamnagar district and Pratapsingh Darbarsingh resident of Kotadasanghani in Rajkot district-have been arrested from Padadhari, Vadodara, Surat, Bavla and Jamkhambaliya, the Special Inspector General of Police (Rajkot Range) V V Rabari said. Two members of the gang are absconding, he added.
The gang popularly known as 'chikhalikar gang' has been engaged in stealing cash and valuables in Saurashtra region in last few months and are involved in 22 cases of theft. They have so far looted valuables including cash and sim cards worth about Rs 50 lakh by breaking into shops.
The gang had only recently, broken into five shops in Morbi district and stole valuables worth about Rs 3.19 lakh, Mr Rabari said.
The gang had so far broken into shops in Junagadh, Porbandar, Jasdan, Kalavad and Rajkot city, Mr Rabari said.
