Panchayat Raj bodies to get powers soon: Minister

Vijayawada, July 15 (UNI) Andhra Prades Panchayat Raj Minister J C Diwakar Reddy today announced that the Panchayat Raj bodies would be empowered with all powers as soon as the Gram Panchayat elections were over.

Talking to mediapersons after unveiling the bronze statues of Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya and Padmabhushan Dr K L Rao here, he said he had no role in the election of Zilla Parishad (ZP) Chairman post in Anantapur after two of the TDP ZPTCs members crossed over to the Congress in the last minute paving way for the Congress to win the ZP chairman post.
