Nitish Kumar launches nutry candy for children
Patna, Jul 15 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today launched "Nutri candy" -lemon-choos- project, a health care programme (toffee khao swasth ho jao) in order to provide better health service to the children and mothers of the state.
Launching the programme of the Directorate of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), Mr Kumar said the state was the first to have started this scheme on its own.
The nutri candy lemon-choos would be distributed in all 80,000 Anganbari centres across the state with annual expenditure of Rs 15 crore.
The benefeciaries would get nutritional candies full of vitamine- A, iron, folic acid and vitamine-C. The candy would be distributed free to the children of age group of 3 to 6 and the mothers. The cost of one candy is about 16 paisa.
Mr Kumar said that West Bengal has launched such scheme in some of its districts with central financial assistance.
