Mulayam distributes unemployment funds
Agra, July 15: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav here today distributed cheques to educated unemployed youth of the state.
Addressing a huge gathering here, the Chief Minister said almost 1,0000 people would be provided employment of which 5,000 will be given by July this year.
About four lakh poeple have been provided employment during this government's tenure, he said.
Mr Yadav said, ''Under the scheme of Kanya Vidya Dhan, which comprises 24 crores, three lakh and 60 thousand, about 12000 girls will be benefited, while an amount of one crore, 42 lakh, seven thousand five hundred has been allocated for educated unemployed youth and unemployment assistance will benefit about 9,529 people in the state.
For the past forty years it (unemployment assistance fund) was being asked for and this government has taken the initiative and provided it, Mr Yadav said.
Speaking on infrastructure problems the Chief Minister said more than 32 bridges are being constructed and many more are in the pipeline.
The scheme of Kanya Vidya Dhan and Unemployment Assistance has initially been started in the districts of Agra, Mathura, Hathras and Aligarh and other districts will be covered later.
The state government's efforts have not only been appreciated by the Planning Commission but the World Bank also, Mr Yadav added.
