Mock security drill at Kashi Vishwanath-Gyanwapi complex
Varanasi, July 15 (UNI) A mock security drill was conducted at the highly sensitive Kashi Vishwanath-Gyanwapi complex here today to ascertain security preparedness before the first Monday of holy month of 'shrawan' when the complex will witness heavy rush of devotees.
Additional Police Superintendent (Gyanwapi) Jugal Kishore Tiwari said this evening the mock drill was performed by the CRP, police and PAC personnel deployed in all three zones of the complex.
''The drill was essential to guage the preparedness of security personnel deployed on the complex especially in light of inputs about terrorist threat on the first Monday falling July 17,'' Mr Tiwari added.
The ASP said two aspects -- safety of devotees in event of terror strike and counter-terrorist operation by Quick Reaction Team (QRT) of CRP and PAC commandos -- were stressed upon during the security drill.
The drill was also beneficial in judging level of coordination between various layers of security.
